Fever
A fever is a symptom of a bigger issue. However, it's best to let a physician determine what is at the root of it. So, we encourage parents to call Sunshine Pediatrics if your child has a fever. This is especially important for parents of newborns. Depending on the type of thermometer you are using, there are several methods of determining your child's temperature.

A newborn whose oral temperature is over 99° Fahrenheit (or 100.4° rectally) should be seen. Once your child is evaluated, we will let you know the proper fever reducing medication and dosage, if required. For your reference, this information is also located here on our website. But, please wait for instructions from a healthcare provider before administering medication to a newborn.
